The Mexico City Grand Prix of Formula 1 concluded with the victory of Carlos Sainz from Ferrari. The Spanish driver started from pole position and managed to stay in first place despite momentarily losing it during the race. This victory brings him closer to fourth place in the overall standings, held by Oscar Piastri of McLaren. Although Max Verstappen of Red Bull continues to lead the drivers' championship, his advantage was reduced as he finished in sixth place, gaining only eight points.
Lando Norris of McLaren, who finished in second place, collected 18 points, closing the gap to the Dutchman. During the race, Norris had clashes with Verstappen, which led the latter to receive two penalties of 10 seconds each. On the other hand, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari completed the podium and remains in third place in the overall standings with the 15 points earned in the race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. However, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez could not score points, finishing in 17th position, his worst performance in the Mexico GP, excluding previous retirements.
Regarding the constructors' championship, McLaren had taken the lead a few weeks ago, but with this weekend's results, Red Bull dropped to third place and Ferrari rose to second. The difference between the Italian and Austrian teams is only 15 points, promising an exciting battle in the last four races of the season.
